Easy Recipe for Chicken Chop Suey:

Chop Suey is a dish in American Chinese cuisine. It consists of meat, vegetables, eggs and pasta. Chop Suey is a popular dish among teenagers and adults. Many kids don’t prefer eating chop suey because of the crispy and slightly hard to chew noodles, so whenever we are making this dish we take out some extra fully boiled noodles and mix it with prepared sauce for kids. For a slightly different variation you can alternate fully boiled noodles with boiled rice, also you can alternate any form of meat with chicken. This is perfect for snack, lunch or dinner.

ITEMS                                        QUANTITY

Egg Noodles                                 1 Packet

Chicken                                         3 to 4 pcs ( cut into cubes )

Carrots                                          2 to 3 pieces

Cabbage                                       ½ medium sized

Capsicum                                     1 to 2 pieces

Bean Sprouts                              1 Cup ( optional )

Green Chilies                               4 to 5  pcs Chopped

Turnip                                           1 to 2 pcs

Eggs                                               2 to 3

Chicken stock/ broth                  2 cups

Corn flour                                   4 Tablespoon made into a paste

Chinese Salt                               1 ½ teaspoon Leveled

Table salt                                    1 teaspoon

Soya sauce                                 ¼ cup

Oil                                                ¼ cup

You can also add other vegetables according to the nutritional values and your taste buds like Peas, French Beans, etc.


Boil 15 to 20 cups of water and add 2 teaspoons of salt. Add noodles and keep an eye, when they are half boiled take out ¾ f noodles out and full boil the remaining noodles.

Cut chicken into small cubes.

Vegetables to be cut into Julian style i.e thin stripes.

Beat the egg with ½ teaspoon table salt and make an omelette. Cut omelette into bits or small cubes, set aside for garnishing.

Make a paste of corn flour with water.


For Sauce:

Heat oil, add chicken cubes and fry them with table salt. Then add cabbage, carrot, beans sprouts, turnip and lastly add capsicum; one after another frying each before adding the other.

Then add salt, Chinese salt, chopped green chilies and soya sauce. Cook for 2 minutes.

Then add stock and corn flour paste. Cook for another 3 minutes or until a thick consistency is obtained.

For Noodles:

Deep fry half boiled noodles until they are crispy.


First put bunches of fried noodles in a serving dish and press them a little or break them with a spoon or washed hands.

Then add the prepared chicken sauce on top.

Now sprinkle pieces of omelette.

On the outer side sprinkle the remaining ¼ of fully boiled noodles for decoration.

Serve hot with sauces.


While boiling noodles add some oil in water. In this way the noodles won’t stick together later.

When deep frying the noodles, once they are in the oil do not turn until firm.

You can also use spaghettis for this recipe.

  1. This sounds like a lovely hearty dish, can the chicken be replaced with tofu or mushrooms to make it vegetarian??? Would the recipe work if I replace the ingredients?

      personally I have never used tofu..
      But I guess it won’t harm to try 🙂
