Loft: an attic or a space under the roof of a building used for accommodation/storage.
LOCATION OF “The Loft” :
Right at the start of Jinnah Super, Islamabad next to Kitchen Cuisine is a not so old café; The Loft. It is a sister concern of Tiramisu.
The name for the café is perfectly selected as it is situated on the upper floor of the building. The classic wooden stairs and iron railing takes you up to a compact and nicely set up dining area. I love the way the entrance wall is all covered with the cut-outs from old English newspapers. The other side of the landing is decorated with exposed bricks painted in antique white, with black and white picture frames hanging from the wall. The furniture; a classic white and yellow wooden arrangement puts you in a comfortable loft-like environment and takes you back to those English farmhouse settings. To cater to a more “comfy” segment, they have some comfortable sofa sitting aswel. The loft has big sun filled windows, I’m sure the look of the café is bright and sunny in day time.
Coming to the food experience, we ordered Korean Beef bowl, Peri Peri Chicken, Cucumber Lemonade and chocolate cupcake.
Korean Beef Bowl
The Korean beef bowl was 200 gms and the serving size was rich and huge. Beef was served with sticky rice, straw mushrooms, pickled cucumber, French beans and a sunny side up egg on top. The beef was cut into strips and cooked well done. It was juicy but not chewy or hard. One could easily feel the tastes of brown sugar and spice mixed together, Nom nomm… The color of the beef was perfect brown. The taste was amazing and very delectable.
Coming to the sticky rice, they weren’t the usual tasting rice. I can’t really explain the flavors as I was focusing more on the beef ;). They used the short grain rice which were lightly seasoned and blended well with the beef. The flavors of rice were definitely not overcoming the taste of beef which is a very good thing. And yes I left the sunny side up, so no idea how it tastes along with the beef n’ rice.
Peri Peri Chicken
The Peri Peri chicken stole my heart. Chicken fillet was perfectly grilled and was tender. The taste of the sauce was highly scrumptious and dissolved well in the mouth. It had a spicy and tangy flavor. Peri peri Chicken is served with sauteed vegetables, French fries and sticky rice. We weren’t in a mood of having vegetables so requested lightly seasoned pasta.
The taste of the food was so delectable that no extra sauces or ketchup was needed and we literally devoured the food.
Cucumber lemonade was refreshing and energizing. It had a mild flavor of cucumber and blended extremely well with the lemon. At First we were reluctant but glad we listened to the waiter and ordered this thirst-quenching drink. Will be a perfect choice for summers.
There’s a good variety of desserts and also tempting pastries, pies and cake slices displayed at the entrance. We wanted to try some but were so full at the end that we ended up with sharing one chocolate cupcake. Cupcake was moist and the icing was great; perfect sweetness, chocolaty and melted well in mouth.
One thing I would like to suggest is increase the serving size of soft drinks. A 250 ml can doesn’t satisfy the need of a person like me.
I have heard good reviews about their Fish and chips, Khawsuey and desserts. Will definitely visit again. I recommend this place to everyone.
